Theatre and Performance Discovery Day

Date: 07-Jun-2019

Time: 09:45 – 14:40

Location: Goldsmiths, University of London

Information & benefits of attending this event: Over the course of the day you experience two taster lectures engaging you in contemporary, critical debate within Computing, tour the college to see where our students study and socialise, and learn about student life and wellbeing at Goldsmiths. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet some of our current students on your course of interest and hear first-hand about their experiences selecting a subject and starting a course at university.

Session One: Introduction to Storytelling
Award-winning storyteller and Goldsmiths lecturer Danny Braverman will deliver a workshop on the topi, showing you how to devise your own stories for performance. The workshop will look at how to engage with an audience as a solo performer, and how to structure stories for performance. This session is a useful introduction to different kinds of performance, including stand-up, and work with children.
Session Two: Introduction to Forum Theatre
A quick introduction to Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre – an interactive theatre form used extensively for work in communities as a tool for change. You will devise a model scenario and look at different ways that interventions work both theatrically and to promote societal change.
Please note: You will need to wear loose clothing, suitable to practical work.
