Philosophy Taster Session

Date: 03-Nov-2020

Time: 15:45 – 17:15

Target year group: Year 13

Information: What is Art?

This taster session is suitable for Year 13 students with an interest in studying philosophy at university.

There are many different areas of philosophy, each of which tries to reach a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us. One question that has puzzled philosophers for a long time is: what is art? You might think this is simple, since we are pretty good at identifying art when we come across it. However, once we try to spell out what art is, we soon encounter a variety of interesting issues. Komarine Romdenh-Romluc will introduce you to some of these in her talk.

Benefits of attending this event: Our online taster sessions help Year 13 students experience what it is like to study at the University of Sheffield.
