SUMMARY:Black Women in Health & Social Care
DESCRIPTION:Location: Online \nEvent Information: What does it really mean to work in the health and social care industry for Black women? Despite a growing awareness for diversity and inclusivity in workplaces\, research consistently shows that Black women in health and social care regularly face intersectional discrimination due to their race and sex. We’ve invited a panel of Black women from health and social care sectors to discuss their experiences in the industry for this Black History Month’s focus on ‘Celebrating our sisters’. We will discuss what lessons they have learnt during their careers to inform Black girls and women with hopes of entering health and social care on the potential barriers they could face. More broadly\, this event aims to provide insight for any individual that is currently working (or aspires to work) in health and social care sectors on how they could foster a more diverse and inclusive workplace that serves the wider community. \n\nThis event is suitable for: Year 12 and Year 13. \nHow to book a place:  Please book by using this link. For any queries\, please contact subjectoutreach@exeter.ac.uk \n\nRecording your attendance on the RO student hub: Please email University of Exeter at realisingopportunities@exeter.ac.uk after the event to confirm your attendance. SUMMARY:University of Nottingham Open Day
DESCRIPTION:Location: University of Nottingham Campuses \nEvent Information: Open days are a great way to learn more about your course\, meet academics and chat to students. They also help you to get a feel for the place\, so that you can decide whether life as a Nottingham student is right for you. As an RO participant you can attend any of the Open Day dates\, but on Saturday 1 July\, we will have staff from our Widening Particpation and Outreach Teams on hand to provide additional advice and support around things like contextual offers and bursaries. Our ambassadors will also be available and support with student life questions and personal statement advice. \n\nThis event is suitable for: Year 12. \nHow to book a place: To book a place\, please follow this link and select the date that you plan to attend. Make sure that you identify yourself as an RO programme participant where there is an option on the form – this will be the way that we can confirm your sign up and attendance on the day. It is also important that you register your attendance at one of the registration points on the open day as this will enable us to confirm your attendance and update the RO hub. \nRO Travel Scheme: If you would like to access the RO Travel Scheme for support with your travel costs to attend this event\, please contact Elizabeth Tomlin via email: realising-opportunities@nottingham.ac.uk \nRecording your attendance on the RO student hub: You will be sent joining instructions for the Open Day with a QR code to scan on arrival. There are many registration points on the day where you can scan your code to register your attendance. It is important that you do this as we will use these records to update the RO database. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note that uploading attendance to the RO student hub after the event is a manual process so can take some time – please do not worry about this.
