SUMMARY:York Experience Summer School 2
DESCRIPTION:Location: University of York campus \nEvent information: The York Experience Summer School (YESS) gives Year 12 students the opportunity to experience the academic and social side of university life. In 2022\, YESS 1 will take place Tuesday 12 July – Friday 15 July\, and YESS 2 will take place Monday 1 August – Thursday 4 August. Both programmes are identical and applicants are encouraged to indicate their availability for each date. \nWhy YESS?: If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live in one of England’s oldest cities\, and study at one of England’s leading universities\, then join us for this year’s York Experience Summer School. The University of York’s 4-day summer school will give you all of the information and experiences you’ll need to decide if York is the choice for you. \nThe York Experience Summer School aims to give you an immersive\, academic\, social\, and pastoral experience of York. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with college life and academic learning & research. You’ll also experience the support on offer at York\, and get to know students from the University of York and other YESS participants. Whoever you are and wherever you’re from\, we’re looking forward to welcoming you to York. \nFor summer 2022 we are returning to an on-campus residential\, which means that you’ll stay on campus for 3 nights in our private en-suite accommodation. Throughout your free stay with us you’ll experience everything there is to offer on campus. YESS is fully catered\, we provide all the materials you’ll need throughout the week\, and we cover your travel expenses too – so there is no cost for you or your family. \nAs a YESS participant\, you’ll receive helpful information before you join us\, and a warm York welcome to Campus throughout your time with us. The support doesn’t end when we wave you off at the train station: as a YESS participant\, you’ll receive bespoke advice and guidance after YESS to support you through year 13/ level 3 year 2\, the UCAS process and beyond. \nClose for student applications: midnight Monday 7 March 2022. Please see the YESS website for full eligibility criteria. \nRealising Opportunities students are guaranteed places subject to applications being received fully completed and on time. Click the link above to read the full eligibility criteria. \nThis event is suitable for: Year 12 \nHow to book a place: Students can apply on the York Experience Summer School website \nHow to apply: The application process is very simple. There are three stages to the application process: \nYou fill out an online application form\, providing us with a contact email address for one parent/ carer/ guardian\, and one teacher\, tutor or school coordinator who can support your application. \nWe contact your nominated supporters asking them to complete a separate supporting application. \nWhen all three parts of the application are received (yours\, your parent’s\, your school coordinator’s)\, we assess your eligibility for YESS Please note that it is essential that we receive supporting applications from your parent/ carer/ guardian and your teacher\, tutor\, or school coordinator. We cannot progress any applications that have these parts missing. We suggest that before applying\, you have a conversation with your nominated supporters to ensure that they are happy to support your application and know to expect an email from us about it. \nApplications open on Monday 14 February 2022 and close to students on Monday 7 March 2022 at midnight. \nRO Travel Scheme: If you are a Cohort 13 student and would like to access the RO Travel Scheme for support with your travel costs to attend this event please contact Emma Stephen at the University of York via email. \nRecording your attendance on the RO student hub: If you attend YESS your student record on the RO student hub will be updated by the University of York.
