Biological Sciences Summer School
Location: University of Leeds
Event Information: Join us on-campus from the 8 – 10 of July 2024 for the annual Food Science and Nutrition summer school. Successful applicants will take part in a series of activities which aim to give young scientists an introduction to the multidisciplinary area of food science and nutrition, while finding out more about studying at the University of Leeds. This years summer schools will focus on food sustainability from farm to fork; participants will develop an understand of the different processes which go into food product development, while also considering sustainability in food science, nutrition, and product development.

In order to take part in the summer school you must:
- Have achieved Grade 6 or above at GCSE maths and Grade 4 or above at GCSE English
- Be in Year 12 studying Biology A level plus one other science or science-related A level
In addition, you should meet at least one of the following:
- You’re from a household with an annual income of £25,000 or below OR in receipt of 16-19 Bursary Fund with an income threshold of £25,000 OR in receipt of free school meals during your GCSE or post-16 studies.
- Your parents did not go to university.
- You attend a school achieving below the national average at GCSE (Attainment 8 score).
- Your studies have been disrupted by circumstances in your personal, social or domestic life. (Except in extreme circumstances, disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic will not be considered, please see our Access to Leeds application guidelines for further information).
- You live in an area with low progression to higher education (use our online Access to Leeds postcode checker).
- You are care experienced (this could include public or kinship care).
Support with travel: Travel bursaries may be available for eligible students – details will be given on acceptance of a place.
