Parents & Carers

January 2024 update: Applications for students entering Year 12/first year of college have now closed. Students with complete applications received before the deadline have now been contacted about the outcome of their application. Applications will reopen in September 2024 for students in Year 12 in September 2024.

Realising Opportunities (RO) is an innovative national programme designed for students in Year 12 and 13/college to gain increased access to some of England’s leading research intensive universities.

RO students will benefit from increased information, advice and access to the RO universities. The programme they follow will ensure they are better equipped for university life and understand what research intensive universities can offer.

“I absolutely loved the RO programme and there are many reasons why. Being apart of the RO programme gave me much confidence when applying to university as I knew of the additional considerations and reduced offers. This has eased my anxieties about getting into university.”

Rehan, Former RO student 2020-22

“I have found it incredibly useful in developing core skills needed for university. I have also received an insight into university life and what to include in my personal statement.”

Tayyaba, Former RO student 2020-22
