Celebrity Activism: Marcus Rashford to Jack Monroe – Using Fame to Create Social Change-

Event information: In this session we will question what it means to be a celebrity and an activist simultaneously. We will consider who achieves visibility as a celebrity activist and look at two recent case studies of food poverty campaigners (Jack Monroe and Marcus Rashford) who will allow us to examine the opportunities and limitations of celebrity activism along gender, race and class lines.
