Economics Virtual Talk: Macro Finance: Banking and Finance

Event Information: Macro-finance is the study of how large scale financial markets, institutions and policies affect the economy. That is because there is a link between inflation and unemployment that affects stock markets and bond markets. Banking and Finance revolve around interest rates. Interest rates are closely linked to inflation. Inflation is affected by the Money Supply in the economy. Money supply is managed through Monetary Policy. Monetary Policy is one of the main types of Macroeconomic Policy: it directly affects financial markets. Therefore, understanding interest rates is crucial to understanding link between financial markets and the macro economy.
