Media & Communication Virtual Talk: Media and Moral Panic
University hosting: University of Leicester
Location: Online
Event Information: The latest moral media panic is not one of trust around fake news but about the idea of banning mobile phones in schools. It has grown out of mental health concerns as well as discourse around bullying and inappropriate behaviours but has the dial turned beyond the point where restrictions will help or will these things be pushed underground and, in the long term, become a different kind of addiction?
