What do ‘Host university’ and ‘RO Partner uni’ mean?

Realising Opportunities is a partnership of 14 research intensive universities across England that work together to provide the RO programme. Here are all our Partner universities:

One of these Partner universities will give you your place on the RO programme; this is your host university for the duration of your time with RO. Your host university will support you throughout the programme by providing a clear point of contact for your queries. Your host university is usually the closest RO Partner university to your school/college – but this isn’t always true.

The RO Launch event

The RO Launch event kickstarts the programme and is great opportunity to learn more about the RO programme steps, your host university, and to meet other students on the programme. You may also be able to meet current university students, to ask them questions and learn more about university life. The Launch event will ensure that you are familiar with the way the programme works, your host university and the support available to you throughout your time with RO.

RO events

However, you are not limited to attending RO events at just your host university – you will have access to all 14 Partner universities and their resources. This way, you can get fully immersed in the opportunities on offer from all of these brilliant institutions!

The National Student Conference

Every year, RO hosts a National Student Conference for RO participants to attend. At the conference you have the chance to meet and ask questions to representatives from all 14 of our Partner universities- it’s a great opportunity to understand them more. RO is, above all, a partnership – so you are never limited to just your host university! We celebrate the excellent range of degree programmes, facilities and opportunities on offer across our 14 Partners universities.

Overall, your host university is a key part of your RO experience, with each Partner university working hard to ensure you have high quality resources and support throughout the programme.
